Picture Book Basket // November
As November came around this year, I thought about my goals for reading with my children this month. I sought out books that represent the Pilgrims and Wampanoag people and what their day-to-day lives may have looked like in the 1600s. I looked for books that celebrate life and the many things to be thankful for and books written by Native people to honor Native American month. Thanksgiving to me is a time to focus on gratitude and togetherness. I also wanted heartwarming stories that remind me of my own Thanksgiving memories. Here are our favorite picture books to read in November...may the list be ever-growing and changing!
We Are Grateful: Otsaliheliga, by Traci Sorell
The Thankful Book, by Todd Parr
Thanksgiving in the Woods, by Phyllis Alsdurf
Giving Thanks: A Native American Good Morning Message, by Chief Jake Swamp
The Thank You Book, by Mary Lyn Ray
Yellow Time, by Lauren Stringer
On the Mayflower, Tapenum's Day, and Sarah Morton's Day, all by Kate Waters
The Thank You Book, by Mo Willems
Giving Thanks: The 1621 Harvest Feast, by Kate Waters
